Henrietta the harpist

Henrietta is an experienced harpist based in the Midlands. She has enjoyed playing since the age of ten and her continued interest has now culminated in her successfully performing at various events, for over five years. These events include weddings, restaurant performances, surprise parties, arts festivals, birthday parties and baby naming ceremonies.

Henrietta approaches every event with an awareness of each organiser's individuality. She enjoys the process of meeting the specific needs and requirements of each event through her performance.

Henrietta has performed in a variety of venues and events in England. The counties that she covers frequently are Leicestershire, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire. She has also played in London and could be available to travel further afield if required.

Growing up in a household heavily influenced by Celtic music, she initially was drawn to the Celtic harp or Clarsach. She later discovered that the instrument was very versatile and her passion for it led her to play in a selection of ensembles. These include a folk group, The Leicestershire Arts Harp Ensemble and performances at the Market Bosworth Arts Festival in 2009 and 2010.
She also has a keen interest in the use of music as a tool for therapy when working with children who have complex emotional and educational needs. Music can create a reaction in people when such responses are usually unlikely or very rare. Such reactions to music can only be seen in a positive light. Her eclectic approach to harp music has also led her to accompany bands and solo artists. Even though the harp is viewed in a traditional way, Henrietta realises its full potential by understanding the instruments' broad appeal.
